WSF Hall of Fame Bylaws
ARTICLE I.
There shall hereby be established a Winchester Hall of Fame Committee, which shall exist within the structure of the Winchester Sports Foundation, and which shall be comprised of at least fifteen members and a chairperson who shall serve no longer than one two-year term. Said Committee shall be responsible for the requisition and processing of nominations of candidates to said Hall of Fame, and said Committee shall elect by unanimous vote, inductees from said candidates. Players, teams and coaches, living and deceased, shall be eligible for induction subject to the following qualifications.
ARTICLE II.
To be eligible for nomination, a player candidate shall have graduated from Winchester High School at least ten (10) years prior to his or her induction into said Hall of Fame. Candidates shall be nominated by at least five residents or former residents of Winchester. Said nominations shall be made in writing, supported by facts relative to the performance of said nominee in a Winchester High School program or programs. Acceptable sources for facts to support a nomination should be submitted through newsprint stories from the time in which the nominee was involved in the sport or sports. The Winchester Hall of Fame Committee may, by a majority vote also accept facts from an individual or individuals that have first-hand knowledge of a nominee's qualifications. A player nominee shall have exhibited leadership, excellence, determination, sportsmanship, versatility, integrity, and met the academic requirements while a student at the Winchester High School. Nominations shall be considered without consideration of race, color, creed, gender or political affiliation.
ARTICLE III.
Inductees shall receive a plaque at an annual event to be held in early May of each year, and said inductees’ names shall be etched on a master plaque to be exhibited in an appropriate place at Winchester High School. Winchester High School athletes in their senior year shall also be honored by the Committee at the annual event.
ARTICLE IV.
The Committee shall have the authority to review and update the bylaws yearly, and the adoption of said bylaws shall be by a two-thirds vote of the members.
